2006 Toyota Corolla 2.2L Diesel · SJ56 OCG

The vehicle's overall roadworthiness is currently poor, as evidenced by the dual MOT failures recorded on 2025-07-29. The first failure on this date indicates a significant brake system issue requiring adjustment or repair, whereas the second failure on the same date highlights a critical issue with the rear parking brake efficiency. These two incidents, occurring together within a single day, suggest a pattern of recurring mechanical failure that has not been resolved, indicating a worsening trend in the braking system rather than a stable one. Regarding the mileage context, the vehicle's age of approximately 20 years is marked by a distinct gap between the most recent test and its current mileage. The most recent MOT was taken on 2025-07-29 at 209,338 miles, which is roughly 10,467 miles per year. While the vehicle has not yet reached the 10,000-mile mark, the data suggests that maintenance has been inconsistent, with the most recent test occurring at a mileage that is slightly below the 10,000-mile threshold. This gap implies that the owner has likely skipped routine maintenance between the most recent test and the current date, leading to accelerated wear on critical components. Given the specific faults flagged in the history, the buyer must inspect the vehicle in person for structural integrity and consumables. The recurring failure of the front and rear parking brakes, combined with the defective rear windscreen wiper blade and headlamp lens, requires immediate attention. The buyer should check for corrosion, binding calipers, and exhaust emissions, as these components are prone to deterioration over time. Furthermore, the presence of a rear registration plate lamp inoperative in the case of a single lamp or all lamps indicates a need for inspection of the rear lighting system, which is a critical component for visibility and safety.
