2012 MINI 1.6L Petrol · SO12 XYU

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile based on the available MOT history. The most recent test on 12 March 2024 at 61,072 miles resulted in a pass with no recorded defects. While the record shows a failure on that same date, the lack of specific defects listed for that failure suggests it was either an administrative error or a minor issue that was rectified immediately prior to the retest, rather than a systemic mechanical failure. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a 14-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,362 miles per year. Between September 2021 and September 2022, the car covered only 669 miles, moving from 60,091 to 60,760 miles. This minimal usage indicates the vehicle has likely sat stationary for long periods or used sparingly. While low mileage reduces wear on the engine and drivetrain, it often leads to the degradation of rubber-based components and fluid-related issues due to lack of operation. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on components prone to age-related failure regardless of low mileage. Examine the suspension bushes and rubber mounts for cracking or perish, and check the brake discs for heavy surface pitting caused by long periods of inactivity. Given the long intervals between tests, verify the condition of the tyres for flat-spotting or age-related sidew cracking. Inspect the chassis for early signs of structural corrosion, as the age of the vehicle remains the primary factor despite the low distance driven.
