2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC 2.1L Diesel · SP16 KRG

This Mercedes-Benz GLC has maintained a consistent MOT pass record over five consecutive tests, with the most recent inspection on 22 July 2025—just under a year ago at 42,300 miles. The absence of any defects, advisories, or failings across all tests suggests the vehicle has undergone regular, if not exemplary, servicing during this period. The tester’s clean bill of health implies no recurring mechanical issues have been overlooked, though the lack of advisory notes also means no pre-existing concerns were formally documented. For a vehicle of this age and low mileage, this stability is notable but does not preclude the need for a thorough independent inspection, particularly of high-wear components that may not yet have manifested as MOT failures. The recorded mileage of 42,300 miles over ten years—approximately 4,230 miles annually—is unusually low for a vehicle of this class, indicating either minimal usage or prolonged periods of inactivity. The consistent annual mileage increments (e.g., 37,708 in 2024, 33,331 in 2023) suggest no sudden spikes or prolonged neglect, though the gap between the 2021 and 2022 tests (25,453 to 29,508 miles) spans nearly a year, which could imply either a temporary reduction in use or an extended period between services. Such low mileage does not inherently signal poor maintenance, but it may mean some components—such as suspension bushes, brake calipers, or fluid systems—have not yet experienced the typical wear associated with higher mileage. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of suspension integrity, particularly the condition of coil springs, bushes, and shock absorbers, as these are less likely to have been stress-tested under low mileage but critical for long-term roadworthiness. The brakes, while not flagged, should be assessed for uneven wear or binding calipers, especially if the vehicle has been stationary for extended periods. Corrosion around wheel arches, subframes, and exhaust mounts—common in older Mercedes models—should be examined, as should fluid levels (brake, power steering, coolant) and the integrity of hoses and belts. The absence of advisories in prior tests does not guarantee these areas are flawless, but they warrant closer scrutiny given the vehicle’s age and the potential for latent issues in components not yet subjected to significant stress.
