2018 MINI Cooper S 2.0L Petrol · ST68 YKE

Tyre tread wear is the only mechanical blemish on the MOT record, with a dangerous failure logged in June 2022 for the nearside front tyre and an advisory for the off‑side front tyre. The same day a pass was recorded, indicating the tyres were remedied, and every subsequent test has been clean, most recently on 25 August 2026, suggesting the vehicle has maintained roadworthiness since that correction. At 68 993 miles the car averages roughly 8 600 miles per year, a usage rate that sits comfortably within normal private‑owner expectations for a Mini Cooper S of this age. The MOT history shows regular annual testing with no significant gaps, confirming that mileage has been accumulated steadily rather than in short, high‑intensity bursts that could accelerate component fatigue. Prospective buyers should give the tyre set a thorough visual and tactile inspection. Verify that tread depth exceeds the legal 1.6 mm on all four wheels, look for uneven wear patterns that could indicate mis‑alignment or worn suspension bushes, and feel for any sidewall bulges or cuts. During a test drive, monitor for a pull to one side, especially when the steering wheel is centred, and listen for any thumping or squeaking that might betray a loose wheel nut or deteriorating tyre carcass. Although the MOT record contains no brake or suspension failures, the mileage level warrants a focused assessment of those systems. Check the brake pedal for a firm, consistent feel without sponginess, and listen for squeal or grinding that could signal pad or disc wear. While cornering, note any clunking or excessive play in the front suspension that might reveal worn control arm bushings or tie‑rod ends, and ensure the steering remains steady without vibration. Addressing these points will give a clear picture of the car’s current mechanical condition beyond the MOT entries.
