2009 Hyundai Santa FE 2.2L Petrol · SV59 AGY

The 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe demonstrates stable roadworthiness based on its most recent MOT result, which passed on 2024-11-06 at 110,633 miles with no defects recorded. The prior three tests from 2021 to 2023 also passed without issues, suggesting consistent maintenance. However, a failed test on 2022-11-15 at 98,608 miles—though no defects were listed—raises questions about potential unresolved concerns. The absence of recorded faults in subsequent tests implies the vehicle likely underwent repairs or adjustments, but the lack of detail on the 2022 failure limits definitive conclusions. The mileage progression aligns with typical usage for a 17-year-old vehicle, averaging ~6,500 miles annually. Notably, the car accumulated 11,721 miles between the 2022-11-15 test (98,608 miles) and the 2024-11-06 test (110,633 miles), reflecting a steady increase. A smaller gap of 1,301 miles occurred between the 2022-11-18 test (98,611 miles) and the 2023-11-08 test (99,912 miles), which may indicate reduced usage or infrequent motoring. The MOT history lacks recurring defects, suggesting the vehicle has not exhibited systemic mechanical or structural issues over the past three years. A buyer should prioritize inspecting the suspension system, particularly the rear coil springs and bushings, given the vehicle’s age and mileage. The exhaust system and brake components, including discs and calipers, warrant scrutiny for corrosion or wear, as these are common failure points in older SUVs. Additionally, checking for rust on the underbody and chassis is critical, as the 2022 MOT failure—despite no recorded defects—could hint at undetected structural or emission-related concerns. While the MOT record shows no immediate risks, the lack of detailed failure data from 2022 necessitates a thorough pre-purchase inspection.
