2016 Ford Grand C-MAX 1.5L Diesel · SX16 EBO

The vehicle presents a stable and improving maintenance trend, culminating in a clean pass at its most recent MOT on 5 August 2025 at 54,614 miles. No defects were recorded at this test, nor at the preceding three successful examinations. A failed test occurred on 26 October 2023 at 50,162 miles, yet the record curiously lists no defects for this failure, suggesting an administrative issue or a rectified minor fault that did not generate a lasting advisory. Since that date, the Grand C-Max has passed twice without any flagged issues, indicating a currently sound mechanical state. The recorded mileage of 54,614 miles equates to an annual average of roughly 5,461 miles, which is notably low for a vehicle approaching its tenth year. Between the September 2022 test at 45,638 miles and the November 2023 test at 50,218 miles, the car covered approximately 4,580 miles over thirteen months. Mileage accumulation then slowed significantly, with just 3,423 miles added between November 2023 and November 2024, and a mere 973 miles recorded between November 2024 and August 2025. This declining usage pattern points to short-journey driving or prolonged periods of inactivity. Although the MOT record contains no recurring mechanical or structural advisories, the low-mileage profile demands a focused physical inspection. Short-trip driving and standing time typically cause brake disc corrosion and binding calipers, so a road test must assess for dragging brakes or a binding handbrake. Suspension bushes and coil springs often perish from age rather than wear, requiring a close visual check for cracking or corrosion. The exhaust system and tyre sidewalls also warrant scrutiny for age-related deterioration, as tread depth might remain legal while the rubber hardens and cracks. A thorough inspection of these components will verify whether the previous owner kept the car moving or let it stand idle.
