2018 Vauxhall Movano 2.3L Diesel · SY18 XFB

This Vauxhall Movano has demonstrated a stable roadworthiness profile over the past three MOT cycles, with no defects or advisories recorded in any of the five tests conducted between August 2022 and October 2025. The most recent test on 24 October 2025—just nine months prior to today—confirmed the vehicle passed without fail, reinforcing that the core mechanical and structural systems have remained compliant. The absence of recurring faults suggests that major components such as suspension bushes, coil springs, and binding calipers have not degraded beyond tolerable limits, though this does not preclude hidden wear. The single consecutive pass/fail on 23–24 October 2025 appears anomalous, as no defects were logged, which may indicate a procedural oversight rather than a mechanical issue. The recorded mileage of 31,842 miles over eight years—approximately 3,980 miles annually—falls well below the average for a commercial van of this age, which typically accumulates 10,000–15,000 miles per year. This low mileage could imply limited use, extended periods of storage, or deliberate underreporting. Notably, the mileage increments between tests are consistent: roughly 4,000 miles between September 2023 and August 2022, and another 4,000 miles between September 2024 and October 2025. While this pattern suggests the vehicle has not been subjected to excessive wear, it also raises questions about the integrity of the odometer, as the identical mileage on two consecutive tests (31,842) in October 2025 is unusual and may warrant verification. Given the clean MOT history, a prospective buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of high-wear consumables that are not captured by the MOT test. Tyres, despite no recorded failures, should be examined for uneven tread wear, which could indicate alignment or suspension issues. The brake system—while not flagged—demands scrutiny for disc thickness, pad condition, and the presence of binding or uneven wear, particularly if the vehicle has experienced prolonged periods of inactivity. Suspension components, including bushes and shock absorbers, should be checked for leakage, excessive play, or corrosion, as these are critical for structural integrity and handling. Additionally, the underbody should be inspected for corrosion, especially around wheel arches and the sills, as this van’s age increases the risk of structural compromise. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions should be visually assessed for leaks or damage, as these are often overlooked but can lead to costly repairs if neglected.
