2003 Volkswagen Golf 1.9L Diesel · VE03 AEA

The vehicle presents a stable level of roadworthiness, evidenced by four consecutive annual clean MOT passes. The most recent test conducted on 29 May 2025 at 206,108 miles resulted in no defects or advisories. This consistent performance suggests that the previous owners have maintained the mechanical and structural integrity to a high standard, avoiding the recurring failures typically seen in vehicles of this age and mileage. The mileage accumulation is remarkably consistent for a 23-year-old car, averaging approximately 9,000 miles per year. Between May 2022 and May 2025, the vehicle covered 22,538 miles, showing a steady usage pattern rather than periods of heavy neglect or long-term storage. The gap of roughly 6,000 miles between the 2024 and 2025 tests indicates regular short-distance driving, which often helps prevent the brake seizing or perished seal issues associated with stationary vehicles. Despite the clean MOT history, the high cumulative mileage necessitates a thorough physical inspection of components prone to age-related wear and tear. A buyer should specifically check the chassis for structural corrosion on the sills and suspension mounting points, as these areas often degrade on older Golf models before failing an MOT test. Examining the rubber suspension bushes, coil springs, and CV boots is vital, as these components frequently reach the end of their service life around 200,000 miles regardless of a clean test record.
