2012 Volkswagen Passat 1.6L Diesel · VE61 VCK

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, though the history reveals a pattern of reactive suspension maintenance. The most recent test on 17 May 2023 at 213,801 miles passed with no recorded defects, following a failure earlier that same day for an excessively worn nearside front anti-roll bar linkage ball joint. This indicates that the owner is willing to address mechanical failures once they are flagged, rather than allowing faults to persist across testing cycles. The mileage profile is significantly high for a 14-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 15,272 miles per year. Between May 2020 and May 2023, the car covered 86,852 miles, representing an accelerated usage of nearly 29,000 miles annually during that period. This consistent usage suggests motorway driving, which typically spares the drivetrain and clutch from the stresses of short-trip city traffic. The regular annual MOT intervals confirm the vehicle has remained in active use without long periods of sitting that could lead to corrosion-related degradation. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the front suspension assembly, as the anti-roll bar linkage ball joints appeared as recurring issues in both 2020 and 2023. Given the high mileage, a thorough check of the control arm bushes, coil springs, and strut mounts is essential to identify further play or rubber perish. The lack of advisories in the 2023 record suggests the structural integrity remains sound for now, but the high mileage means that brake components and suspension bushings are nearing the end of their typical service life.
