2014 Ford Fiesta 1.6L Petrol · VE63 VZR

A consistent track record of roadworthiness defines this vehicle, despite a notable cluster of failures in 2021. The record shows a pattern of clean passes, culminating in the most recent test on 14 August 2026 which recorded no defects. While the 2021 failure was significant, involving dangerous tyre damage and worn suspension components, the subsequent five years of testing indicate a stable mechanical state. With 87,950 miles recorded over approximately twelve years, the vehicle has averaged roughly 7,329 miles per year. This usage pattern is typical for its age, suggesting a regular duty cycle that avoids the risks associated with prolonged standing or excessive high-mileage wear. Mechanically, this indicates that drivetrain components and interior wear should align with standard expectations for a car of this vintage and mileage. Attention should be paid to the front steering and suspension geometry given the history of failures and advisories in these areas. The 2021 failure of the offside front lower suspension arm ball joint and the 2024 advisory regarding play in the offside track rod end suggest a vulnerability in the front-end linkages. During a test drive, listen for knocking or clicking sounds when turning the steering wheel at low speeds or when driving over uneven road surfaces, as these can indicate renewed wear in the ball joints or track rod ends. The parking brake efficiency was flagged as a major failure in 2021, which warrants verification of current performance. Ensure the handbrake holds the vehicle securely on an incline without excessive travel of the lever. Additionally, while the rear registration plate has been a recurring advisory since 2024, this is a minor cosmetic issue. Focus the physical inspection on the front tyres to ensure no structural irregularities remain, reflecting the dangerous sidewall tear recorded in the 2021 test.
