The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on January 28, 2026, confirms it passed without defects, though it had previously failed just five days earlier at 231,583 miles—an unusually tight turnaround that suggests either a last-minute correction or a genuine oversight in pre-test preparation. The absence of recorded defects in either the January 2026 tests implies no major recurring issues were detected by the tester, though the repeated failures at nearly identical mileages warrant scrutiny of what may have been overlooked. The 2025 and 2023 tests also passed without failings, indicating a stable pattern of passing MOTs, but the lack of advisories or minor faults in any record makes it impossible to gauge whether critical components like suspension bushes, coil springs, or brake calipers have been neglected over time. The recorded mileage of 231,620 miles over 18 years equates to an average of roughly 12,868 miles annually, which is high for a vehicle of this age and category. The gap between the 2023 and 2025 tests—approximately 20,000 miles in two years—suggests the vehicle was actively used during that period, though the sudden jump from 209,594 to 226,088 miles between November 2023 and January 2025 (around 16,500 miles in under a year) may indicate a period of heavier usage. The most recent mileage increment, from 226,088 to 231,620 miles in just over a year, further reinforces this trend. Such high mileage accumulation over time raises concerns about accelerated wear on consumable parts like tyres, brake pads, and wiper blades, as well as potential stress on suspension and drivetrain components. Given the lack of recorded defects or advisories in any MOT, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of high-wear items that are not routinely tested. Focus on the suspension—particularly the condition of rear suspension bushes and coil springs, which are prone to deterioration at this mileage—and check for binding or uneven brake calipers, as the repeated failures suggest a possible oversight in brake system checks. Tyre tread depth and lateral wear patterns should be examined closely, as failing twice on tread suggests basic upkeep may have been inconsistent. Additionally, inspect the underbody for corrosion, especially around the sills, wheel arches, and exhaust system, as structural integrity can degrade silently over 18 years. The absence of advisories in the MOT history does not guarantee these areas are sound, so visual and functional checks are essential.
