2004 MINI 1.6L Petrol · VF54 ADU

The 2004 MINI Hatchback presents a stable roadworthiness profile based on the most recent test. The January 2023 examination at 86,173 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, continuing a clean trend across the four most recent tests. No advisories or mechanical faults appear in the available history, indicating the vehicle has not shown worsening condition or recurring component failures under official inspection. Recorded mileage sits at 86,173 against an age of roughly 22 years, equating to about 3,917 miles per year and marking the car as low-use for its age. The records show 81,823 miles tested on 7 November 2016, then a five-year gap before the 9 January 2021 test at 82,390 miles. That gap implies either limited running or a lapse in testing, with only 567 miles added between late 2016 and early 2021. From 2021 to 2023 the car covered 3,783 miles, a modest annual rate. The October 2016 failure at 81,816 miles carries no listed defects, suggesting an administrative or unrecorded cause rather than a mechanical fault. A buyer should still commission an in-person inspection of suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake discs given the vehicle's age and the long standing period implied by the 2016 to 2021 gap. Drivetrain seals and exhaust emissions components warrant checks for degradation from intermittent use. Structural integrity around subframes and sills should be examined for corrosion, as the MOT history offers no advisory detail to confirm freedom from such defects. The clean test slate does not override the need for a qualified pre-purchase examination. Low mileage and sparse records mean hidden wear from storage, not road use, may dominate the actual condition. Verify service history independently before commitment.
