2016 Hyundai Tucson 1.7L Diesel · VM07 KES

A 2016 Hyundai Tucson covering 130,808 miles across ten years presents a roadworthiness profile shaped by both its annual use and its largely unblemished MOT record. Across five recorded tests spanning late 2022 through March 2026, the vehicle has passed every inspection, with the most recent test on 2 March 2026 returning a clean pass and no advisories. The only flagged items in the entire history are a pair of child seat obstruction advisories from March 2025, a single set of front tyre wear advisories, a minor windscreen wiper defect, a deteriorating front registration plate, and a note of front brake disc wear from November 2022. There are no recorded failures, no structural corrosion advisories, no suspension component flags, no exhaust or emissions issues, and no lighting defects, which together indicate that the vehicle has remained within roadworthy tolerances throughout its testing life. The annual mileage of roughly 13,081 miles is notably high for a ten-year-old family SUV and places this Tucson firmly in the upper quartile of usage for its cohort. The mileage progression between tests shows steady accumulation: the gap between November 2022 and November 2023 was relatively modest, and subsequent annual tests reflect continued regular use rather than extended lay-up periods. There are no unusual gaps in the MOT history that would suggest the vehicle was off the road for prolonged stretches, and the consistent yearly testing pattern from 2022 onwards confirms continuous road use. Mechanically, higher annual mileage of this magnitude accelerates wear on consumables such as brake pads, discs, tyres, drive belts, and clutch components (where applicable), and can bring forward attention to suspension bushes, anti-roll bar links, and wheel bearings compared to a lower-mileage equivalent of the same age. For a prospective buyer, the most relevant items to physically verify on inspection are those that the MOT record has touched on. Given the November 2022 advisory for front brake disc wear, it is prudent to check the current disc condition through the wheel for lipping, scoring, or corrosion pitting, and to feel for any judder or vibration through the brake pedal or steering wheel under firm deceleration. The same test noted front tyres worn close to the legal limit on both edges, which warrants inspection of the current pair for uneven shoulder wear, camber issues, or any tracking concerns that could cause similar edge wear to recur. Listen for any clonks or knocks from the front suspension over speed humps and uneven surfaces, paying particular attention to anti-roll bar bushes and drop links, as these are common wear items on higher-mileage Tucsons and were not specifically examined in the recent tests. Beyond the flagged items, the clean 2026 pass with no advisories is encouraging, but does not eliminate the need for closer scrutiny given the mileage. On a test drive, listen for any drivetrain noises from the manual or automatic transmission, check for smooth clutch take-up or clean automatic shifts, and inspect the underside of the engine and transmission for any oil seepage that could develop into leaks. The 2022 advisory regarding a deteriorated front registration plate is trivial, and the minor wiper blade defect recorded at the same test is a routine consumable item. Given that no corrosion advisories have appeared across any of the five tests, structural integrity appears to have held up well, though a thorough underside examination for any surface rust on subframes, brake pipes, and suspension arms would still be advisable given the vehicle's age and exposure to winter road conditions. Overall, the MOT history suggests a vehicle that has remained compliant throughout its life, with the principal remaining concerns being the predictable wear associated with sustained high-mileage use.
