2005 Honda Jazz 1.3L Petrol · VN05 AFZ

The 2005 Honda Jazz presents a generally stable roadworthiness profile, with its most recent MOT on 2025-04-15 at 76,579 miles recording a pass and no defects. However, a prior failure on 2024-03-26 at the same mileage—despite no defects being listed—raises questions about procedural accuracy or potential overlooked issues. Subsequent tests from 2023-04-04 and 2022-03-26 also passed without defects, suggesting consistent compliance but limited actionable data. The absence of recurring mechanical faults in the record implies no immediate structural or drivetrain risks, though the vehicle’s low mileage of 76,579 over 21 years (3,647 miles annually) warrants scrutiny for signs of inactivity-related wear. The mileage pattern indicates infrequent use, with the car accumulating just 555 miles between the 2023-04-04 and 2024-03-26 tests, followed by a 1,515-mile jump to the 2025-04-15 pass. Such irregularity may signal periods of storage, increasing the likelihood of dry joints, corroded components, or degraded rubber parts. The lack of defects in multiple tests does not preclude hidden issues, particularly in systems prone to slow deterioration, such as suspension bushes or exhaust emissions. Buyers should verify the vehicle’s service history for evidence of proactive maintenance to counteract potential stagnation. Key areas for in-person inspection include the suspension system, where dry or worn bushes could cause abnormal noise or handling issues, and the braking mechanism, as low-mileage vehicles sometimes develop binding calipers or uneven brake disc wear. The exhaust system, particularly near the catalytic converter, should be checked for corrosion or leaks, as inactivity can accelerate rust. Additionally, the vehicle’s structural integrity—though not flagged in MOT records—deserves visual assessment for signs of rust or panel damage, which may go undetected in standard tests. The absence of advisories on tyres or wiper blades suggests these components may have been recently replaced, but their condition should still be confirmed.
