2012 Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0L Diesel · VN12 HKB

The 2012 Volkswagen Scirocco presents a highly stable and improving maintenance trend, culminating in a completely clean pass on 17 March 2026 at 72,954 miles. No defects were recorded during this most recent inspection, indicating the vehicle currently meets all required safety and environmental standards. The absence of recurring mechanical or structural advisories suggests the previous owner addressed any prior wear items promptly, maintaining the car in a consistently roadworthy condition. The recorded mileage of 72,954 miles over fourteen years equates to a low annual average of roughly 5,211 miles. The history reveals a notable gap between March 2018 at 52,708 miles and March 2024 at 63,845 miles, representing six years where the vehicle covered just over 11,000 miles. Since 2024, the annual mileage has increased slightly, with the car traveling 3,388 miles between the 2024 and 2025 tests, and 5,721 miles between the 2025 and 2026 tests. This pattern points to a vehicle that spent prolonged periods stationary, which can cause its own set of issues like perished rubber and seized components, despite the low overall mileage. Although the MOT record is entirely free of mechanical defects, the six-year gap warrants a thorough physical inspection. A buyer should pay close attention to the condition of the tyre sidewalls and suspension bushes, as extended stationary periods often lead to flat spots and perished rubber. The braking system requires a close visual check for surface corrosion on the discs and binding calipers, common issues on low-mileage vehicles left standing. The 2024 test record shows a failed inspection on 19 March at 63,845 miles with no listed defects, immediately followed by a pass on the same day at the same mileage. This anomaly likely represents a procedural re-test or an abandoned initial inspection, though verifying the structural integrity of the sills and subframes remains prudent given the vehicle's age and the history gap.
