2015 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Diesel · VU64 ABX

The vehicle holds a clear roadworthiness status with a consistently stable maintenance trend. The most recent examination on 4 October 2024 at 47,430 miles returned a pass with zero defects recorded. This outcome aligns with the preceding tests on 18 August 2023 at 40,008 miles and 5 July 2022 at 32,423 miles, which both also cleared without advisories or failures. The absence of recurring faults across three consecutive annual inspections indicates steady upkeep and suggests the previous owner addressed routine service intervals before components reached critical wear limits. The odometer reading of 47,430 miles over an eleven-year registration period equates to roughly 4,300 miles annually, which falls well below average utilisation for a vehicle of this age. The mileage increments between tests show a steady, low-volume usage pattern, with 7,422 miles added between the 2023 and 2024 examinations and 7,585 miles between the 2022 and 2023 tests. Such light running typically preserves the engine, transmission, and suspension geometry from excessive mechanical fatigue. Prolonged periods of low mileage or stationary storage can, however, accelerate the degradation of rubber seals, coolant hoses, and brake discs through moisture absorption and surface oxidation rather than friction wear. A thorough physical inspection should prioritise time-sensitive components that standard annual tests do not fully assess. Examine the suspension bushes and anti-roll bar links for dry cracking or perishing, as these degrade regardless of distance covered. Check the brake discs and drums for heavy surface corrosion or scoring, which commonly develops on lightly used cars that sit between journeys. Inspect the tyre sidewalls for dry rot and verify tread depth remains above the legal minimum, since rubber compounds harden with age. Finally, lift the vehicle to assess the exhaust system for structural rust and verify all underbody mounting points retain their original integrity without stress fractures or corrosion.
