2003 Vauxhall Zafira 1.8L Petrol · VX03 TFZ

The vehicle presents a concerning maintenance profile characterized by recurring mechanical issues and a lack of recent testing. The most recent MOT record from December 2022 at 149,602 miles shows a pattern of neglected consumables and slow-onset leaks. While the vehicle passed, the tester flagged pitted and scored front brake discs on both sides and noted corrosion on the nearside rear brake pipe. This follows a trend of persistent issues rather than a resolving one, suggesting that while faults are being addressed to meet minimum standards, the underlying degradation of components is ongoing. The mileage accumulation is consistent with the vehicle's age, averaging approximately 6,500 miles per year. Between the January 2021 test at 134,721 miles and the December 2022 test at 149,602 miles, the car covered roughly 15,000 miles. However, there is a significant data gap in the records. With the last recorded test occurring in late 2022, the vehicle has no documented MOT history for nearly four years relative to the current date of July 2026. This lack of recent certification makes it impossible to verify the current state of the drivetrain or safety systems. A prospective buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the steering and suspension systems. The records show a chronic issue with power steering seepage from the rack, appearing in January 2021, January 2022, and December 2022. This indicates the steering rack is likely nearing the end of its service life. The history also reveals frequent failures and advisories regarding corroded coil springs, leaking shock absorbers, and worn anti-roll bar linkages. These recurring suspension faults suggest that the chassis and subframe may be subject to significant age-related corrosion. Braking components and exhaust integrity also require immediate scrutiny. The tester noted pitted brake discs and corroded brake pipes in the 2022 tests, and the exhaust system has been flagged for corrosion and leaks as far back as 2013. Given the age of the vehicle and the documented history of component degradation, the buyer should specifically check for structural rust on the underside and ensure that the electronic stability control and engine management systems are functioning correctly, as these components have failed in previous inspections.
