2016 Volkswagen Golf GTD 2.0L Diesel · VX16 AXV

The May 2025 test at 102,053 miles returned a clean pass with no defects or advisories recorded. That result sits on a run of three consecutive clean passes stretching back to January 2023. A single failure appears on 31 December 2022 at 92,358 miles, yet the supplied record lists no defects for that test; a retest three days later at 92,515 miles passed clean. The current MOT expired on 1 May 2026, leaving the vehicle without legal roadworthiness certification today. Mileage accumulation follows a typical 10,000-mile annual profile early in the sequence. The January 2022 test logged 81,074 miles; by December 2022 the odometer read 92,358 miles. The pace slowed thereafter, adding only 6,400 miles over 2023 and a further 3,100 miles in the seventeen months to May 2025. No test appears for the 2024 calendar year, suggesting either a missed inspection or a gap in the supplied history. With no advisories logged across the recent passes, the record offers no specific pointers for suspension wear, brake binding, or structural corrosion. The unexplained 2022 failure warrants investigation; a buyer should request the original failure sheet to determine whether the tester cited emissions, lighting, or a structural item such as a corroded subframe mount. In the absence of that paperwork, focus a physical inspection on the rear axle bushes, front coil springs, and the DSG gearbox for fluid seepage, as these are common failure points on the GTD at this mileage. The low recent mileage raises the possibility of extended standing periods, so verify brake disc condition for surface corrosion and check the diesel particulate filter regeneration history. A clean bill of health at the last test is encouraging, but the current expired status means the car cannot be driven legally until a new test is secured.
