2016 Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0L Diesel · VX16 AXW

A pattern of deteriorating front-end suspension and braking components defines this vehicle's recent history, leading to a failure in January 2026 for excessively worn suspension rod pins and bushes alongside significantly worn front brake discs. Although the vehicle achieved a pass on 20 January 2026, the record reveals a progression of wear, with suspension bushes first appearing as advisories in 2023 before escalating to major defects. Recurring issues with the windscreen washer system and persistent tyre edge wear further characterize the mechanical trend. The recorded mileage of 133,307 miles is high for a vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 13,331 miles per year. Such usage levels typically accelerate the degradation of consumables and structural components, particularly within the suspension and drivetrain. The steady annual testing interval confirms the car has been in constant service, which aligns with the frequent advisories for tyre replacement and brake wear observed across multiple years. Given the history of worn suspension rod pins and arm bushes, a test drive should focus on steering stability and noise. Listen for knocks or clunks when traversing uneven road surfaces or speed bumps, and assess whether the steering feels vague or exhibits a pull to one side. The repeated recording of tyres worn on the inner edges suggests a potential ongoing issue with wheel alignment or suspension geometry that requires verification. The braking system has been a consistent point of concern, with records of pitted, scored, and eventually significantly worn front discs. Prospective buyers should feel for any pedal judder or steering wheel vibration during deceleration. Finally, the previous failures regarding a missing road wheel fixing bolt, non-functional indicators, and a faulty windscreen washer system necessitate a thorough check of all exterior lighting and the security of all wheel bolts.
