2003 Land Rover Defender 2.5L Diesel · WA02 AGA

The 2003 Land Rover Defender exhibits a stable roadworthiness trend, with all five consecutive MOT tests from 2021 to 2025 recording no defects. The most recent assessment on 2025-04-02 at 124,736 miles confirmed compliance, reinforcing a consistent maintenance pattern. No advisories or critical failures were noted across the six-year history, suggesting the vehicle has been well-maintained within its low annual mileage range. This stability implies the previous owner prioritized regular servicing, though the absence of recorded issues does not preclude hidden wear in non-MOT-checked components. The vehicle’s mileage of 124,736 miles over 23 years equates to approximately 5,423 miles annually, significantly below the UK average for its age. This low usage could indicate infrequent operation or prolonged periods of inactivity, which may affect fluid degradation, battery health, and suspension articulation. The MOT intervals align closely with annual cycles, with mileage increments of 2,000–2,500 miles between tests, suggesting controlled usage. However, the lack of higher-mileage wear data limits insight into long-term component fatigue, particularly in the drivetrain and exhaust system. A buyer should prioritize inspecting the vehicle’s structural integrity, as age increases rust risk in body panels and underbody components. Suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers—common wear points in older four-wheel drives—warrant close scrutiny, even without recorded faults. The low mileage may have preserved some parts but could also lead to stiffness or corrosion in static areas. Additionally, the exhaust system and brake discs should be checked for hidden damage, as these elements are not assessed during standard MOTs. Overall, the MOT history supports a mechanically sound vehicle, but physical inspection remains critical to confirm condition.
