2015 Audi A6 3.0L Diesel · WF65 THX

Consistent roadworthiness has defined this vehicle throughout its testing history, culminating in a pass on 20 January 2026 despite the emergence of two minor advisories. The record shows a stable trend of compliance, with four consecutive clean passes between 2021 and 2024, indicating that the vehicle has successfully met statutory safety standards without significant mechanical intervention during that period. The recent flagging of a secondary bonnet catch and thinning front brake pads represents the first departure from this pattern of defect-free testing, marking a transition into a phase where wear-related components require closer monitoring. Accumulating 150,967 miles over eleven years results in an average of approximately 13,724 miles per annum, a figure that sits above the national average for private vehicles. This high-mileage profile suggests the Audi has been utilised primarily for long-distance motorway travel rather than short, stop-start urban cycles. While this usage pattern is generally less taxing on the clutch and internal engine components than city driving, it places significant cumulative stress on high-speed consumables, including suspension bushings, wheel bearings, and the braking system, all of which will have experienced substantial thermal cycling and road-surface impact. The advisory regarding the offside front brake pads necessitates an immediate inspection of the friction material thickness and the condition of the brake discs. During your test drive, apply the brakes firmly from moderate speeds to listen for any grinding noises or feel for vibrations through the pedal, which could indicate that the pads have worn down to the backing plate or that the discs have become scored or warped. The secondary bonnet catch, while not a primary safety failure, is a critical security and safety mechanism that must be rectified; ensure the bonnet latches securely on both the primary and secondary releases, as a faulty catch can pose a significant risk if it fails to engage fully at speed. Beyond the specific advisories, the vehicle's high mileage warrants a thorough assessment of the suspension and steering geometry. Listen carefully for any knocking, clunking, or rattling sounds when traversing uneven road surfaces, which often point to worn anti-roll bar links, control arm bushes, or ball joints that have reached the end of their service life. Given the age and mileage, verify that the steering remains precise without excessive play or pulling to one side, and observe the engine bay for any signs of oil misting or weeping from gaskets, as the high-mileage nature of the drivetrain means that seals and hoses may have become brittle and prone to minor leaks.
