2005 BMW 116 1.6L Petrol · WG55 ASO

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile following a period of consistent clean passes. The most recent inspection conducted in August 2025 at 88,167 miles resulted in no recorded defects, indicating that the car currently meets the minimum legal standards. This follows a three-year streak of clean results since a single failure in mid-2023, suggesting that the current owner is proactive in addressing mechanical issues before they escalate into recurring failures or de-minories. The mileage pattern is notably low for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,200 miles per year. The data shows consistent usage over time, such as the 4,090 miles driven between August 2024 and August 2025, and another 4,150 miles in the year prior to 2024. While low mileage generally reduces the mechanical wear on the drivetrain and engine components, the long intervals between service points can sometimes lead to the degradation of rubber-based components or the drying of brake fluids and seals. Despite the clean recent history, a buyer must focus their physical inspection on the structural integrity of the chassis and suspension components, as BMW vehicles from this era are prone to corrosion in the sills and rear wheel arches. Given the low annual mileage, the inspector should check for perished suspension bushes and split rubber boots which often fail due to age rather than friction. The braking system should also be examined for binding calipers or pitted discs, as infrequently used vehicles often suffer from surface rust and seized pistons if not exercised regularly.
