2018 Suzuki Ignis SZ5 Shvs Allgrip 1.2L Hybrid electric · WHZ 4766

The most recent MOT test on 2022-11-07 confirmed this Suzuki Ignis as roadworthy with no defects recorded, but the absence of any subsequent tests raises immediate concerns. Given the vehicle’s age—now eight years old—and the current date of 2026-08-21, the car has not undergone an MOT for nearly four years, which is well beyond the standard annual requirement. This prolonged gap suggests either neglect or deliberate avoidance of testing, neither of which bodes well for the vehicle’s upkeep. Without recent inspection, there is no assurance that critical components like brakes, suspension, or emissions systems remain compliant with current standards. The recorded mileage of 76,835 miles, averaging roughly 9,600 miles per year, aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age. However, the lack of any MOT entries between 2022 and now means there is no data to confirm whether the vehicle was driven consistently or stood unused for extended periods. Long periods off the road can accelerate issues such as battery corrosion, tyre degradation, or suspension stiffness, particularly if the car was not stored under controlled conditions. The absence of intermediate mileage readings further limits visibility into how the vehicle was managed over this critical four-year window. Given the sparse MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an immediate, thorough inspection of high-wear areas that are not typically captured in a standard MOT. The brakes, particularly the rear calipers and discs, should be checked for uneven wear or binding, as past tests did not reveal any faults but wear patterns can worsen significantly over time. Suspension components—including bushes, coil springs, and shock absorbers—must be examined for leaks, excessive play, or corrosion, especially in areas prone to road salt damage. The exhaust system should be inspected for leaks or rust perforation, as emissions-related faults were not flagged in the last test but could have developed since. Finally, the structural integrity of the chassis and body panels should be assessed for signs of hidden corrosion or damage, as the vehicle’s age increases the risk of undetected deterioration.
