2007 Jeep Cherokee Limited CRD 2.8L Diesel · WJ07 FVS

The vehicle remains roadworthy, though the maintenance trend shows a slight shift towards mechanical wear related to age. The most recent test in September 2025 at 84,245 miles resulted in a severely deteriorated offside front lower suspension arm ball joint dust cover. While the vehicle passed despite this defect, it indicates that rubber components are reaching the end of their functional life. The overall history appears relatively stable, with faults being limited to minor electrical issues and isolated suspension wear items rather than systemic mechanical failure. The mileage profile is notably low for a nineteen-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,434 miles per year. Between the August 2023 test at 74,946 miles and the September 2025 test at 84,245 miles, the vehicle covered 9,299 miles. This consistent pattern suggests low annual usage, which often benefits the drivetrain but can lead to the degradation of seals and dry-rot. The oil leak noted in September 2022 at 67,926 miles is consistent with the age of this diesel engine. A prospective buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the front suspension to check for play in the ball joints and the condition of the bushings. Given the recent dust cover failure, the entire lower arm assembly should be scrutinized for grease ingress and metal fatigue. The minor oil leak recorded in 2022 should be monitored to ensure it has not worsened into a significant drip between tests. Because of the low mileage, specific attention should also be paid to structural corrosion on the chassis, as stationary vehicles often suffer more from surface rust than high-mileage counterparts.
