2011 Vauxhall Astra 1.7L Diesel · WJ11 AHG

This Vauxhall Astra has maintained a clean MOT history over the past five years, with no defects recorded in any of the four most recent tests. The most recent pass on 19 February 2026—just five months ago—confirms the vehicle remains roadworthy under current DVSA standards. There is no evidence of recurring mechanical issues, and the absence of advisories or failings suggests the tester did not identify any major wear items such as suspension bushes, coil springs, or binding calipers that would warrant further attention. However, the single failure in March 2024 (at 140,862 miles) stands out as an anomaly, though no specific defects were logged, which raises curiosity about what may have been inspected at that time. The mileage progression shows a steady accumulation of roughly 9,900 miles annually, consistent with typical usage for a vehicle of this age. The gap between the February 2024 failure and the March 2024 pass—just 21 days—indicates a rapid retest, which might imply a minor oversight rather than a serious mechanical issue. No extended periods of inactivity are evident, and the recorded mileage at the latest test (148,521) aligns with the vehicle’s age, suggesting it has not been subjected to excessive wear from prolonged storage or aggressive driving. Given the lack of recorded defects, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of high-wear components that are not routinely checked in MOT tests. Particular attention should be given to the suspension system—especially the front and rear bushes, as well as coil springs—for signs of cracking or excessive play. The brake system, including caliper binding, disc thickness, and rotor runout, should be checked for uneven wear or corrosion, as these are common failure points in vehicles of this age and mileage. Additionally, the underbody should be examined for structural corrosion, particularly around the wheel arches, sills, and subframe, as rust can compromise structural integrity without always being visible from the exterior. Finally, the exhaust system should be inspected for leaks or excessive corrosion, as emissions-related failures are not always flagged in MOT tests.
