2020 Honda CMX 500 A-X 0.5L Petrol · WJ20 YOR

This Honda CMX 500 A-X presents a remarkably clean MOT history, with no defects recorded across four consecutive tests spanning from May 2023 to November 2025. The most recent inspection on 3 November 2025 at 2,917 miles confirms the vehicle remains in a stable condition, with no advisories or failures to suggest deteriorating mechanical or structural issues. The absence of recurring faults—particularly in critical areas like brakes, suspension, or emissions—implies either meticulous maintenance by previous owners or inherently robust build quality for this model. Given the low mileage, wear on consumables like tyres, brake pads, and clutch components would logically be minimal, though visual confirmation remains prudent. The mileage pattern is highly unusual for a six-year-old machine, with just 2,917 miles logged—an average of roughly 486 miles per year. This suggests either very light use, prolonged periods of inactivity, or potential odometer discrepancies. The gap between the 2024 and 2025 tests (281 miles over 18 months) is particularly striking, far below typical annual mileage even for a secondary or leisure vehicle. There are no red flags in the MOT record to indicate neglect, but such low mileage raises questions about whether the vehicle has been stored or underused. Without additional service records, a buyer should verify the odometer’s accuracy and check for signs of corrosion or fluid degradation from prolonged inactivity. Given the lack of MOT advisories, a prospective buyer should focus on areas not routinely tested but prone to hidden issues in low-mileage vehicles. Inspect the suspension components—particularly the rear shock absorbers and bushings—for any signs of drying out or stiffness, as these can degrade even with minimal use. Check the brake system thoroughly, including the condition of the discs, calipers, and hydraulic lines, as binding or corrosion could develop without regular operation. The exhaust system should be examined for rust or leaks, especially if the bike has been stored in damp conditions. Finally, verify fluid levels—engine oil, brake fluid, and coolant—and look for any signs of moisture ingress or seal deterioration, which are common in vehicles left unused for extended periods.
