2007 Toyota Corolla 2.2L Diesel · WJ57 YUB

The vehicle remains technically roadworthy, but the maintenance history reveals a consistent pattern of reactive rather than proactive care. The most recent recorded test in January 2022 at 143,232 miles shows a pass despite multiple advisories regarding the braking system and suspension components. While the car passed, the lack of any MOT records since 2022 means the vehicle is currently untested as of June 2026, representing a significant compliance risk as the mechanical state has not been verified for over four years. The mileage progression is consistent with a 19-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 7,500 miles per annum. There was a notable gap of 21,926 miles between January 2019 and January 2021, followed by another 11,326 miles covered between 2021 and 2022. However, the absence of data following the January 2022 test suggests the vehicle may have sat stationary or been used without official testing, which increases the likelihood of rubber perish, component seizing, and fluid degradation regardless of the low total mileage. A buyer must prioritise an inspection of the rear axle assembly, as the swivel pins and bushes have been flagged as worn in both 2021 and 2022. This recurring fault suggests developing suspension play that could affect handling and tyre wear. The braking system also requires close scrutiny; the 2022 test noted pitted and scored front discs along with thin pads, indicating that the owner frequently delayed replacing components until they reached a point of failure rather than following a standard service interval. The record also highlights a chronic disregard for basic consumable maintenance, with all four tyres flagged as being near the legal limit in every test from 2019 to 2022. The corrosion on the spare wheel rim noted in 2021 further points to environmental wear issues. Given the four-year gap in testing history, a physical inspection to check for structural rust on the sills and the condition of the brake lines is essential before any purchase.
