2006 Honda CB1300 1.3L Petrol · WR06 PKA

The most recent MOT test conducted in September 2025 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects. Reviewing the historical data, the vehicle has demonstrated a stable maintenance trend, maintaining a consistent pass record over the last few years. Although a failure was recorded in March 2023, the lack of specific defect details prevents a precise mechanical diagnosis of that event, but the immediate successful retest indicates that any identified faults were addressed effectively. The recent clean sheets suggest the vehicle is currently being maintained to a standard that meets regulatory roadworthiness requirements. With a recorded mileage of 29,820 miles over approximately twenty years, the vehicle has averaged roughly 1,491 miles per year. This is considered very low usage for a machine of this age. While this low mileage implies minimal wear on the engine internals, piston rings, and transmission, it also suggests the vehicle may have spent significant periods stationary. In such cases, mechanical issues often arise from inactivity rather than distance, meaning the absence of high mileage does not automatically equate to a lack of maintenance requirements or potential component failure. Given the low usage profile, a prospective buyer should focus heavily on age-related degradation. Inspect the tyres thoroughly for signs of perishing, such as sidewall cracking or a hardened tread surface, as rubber components lose elasticity over time regardless of how much they have been ridden. Check the brake discs for heavy corrosion or pitting and ensure the calipers are not binding, which can occur when a vehicle sits for long periods. It is also vital to examine all rubber hoses, seals, and suspension bushes for signs of brittleness or cracking, as these parts are susceptible to environmental degradation and time-based wear. Additionally, verify the condition of all fluids and the electrical system. Because mileage-based servicing intervals may not be met frequently, confirm that brake fluid and coolant have been replaced based on a calendar schedule to prevent moisture ingress and internal corrosion. Check the battery health and the charging system, as infrequent use can lead to sulphation and reduced capacity. During a test ride, listen for any irregular noises from the drive chain or suspension that could indicate dried-out lubrication or leaking fork seals. Finally, cross-reference the service book stamps to ensure that time-sensitive maintenance has been carried out to complement the low mileage.
