2017 Toyota Hilux 2.4L Diesel · WV66 XOU

The vehicle currently holds a clean MOT status following its most recent test on 21 April 2026 at 257,625 miles. While the latest result shows no defects, the maintenance trend suggests a period of accelerating mechanical wear between 2024 and 2025. The record indicates a transition from minor consumable issues to more significant component failures, specifically regarding the suspension and steering systems, before returning to a clear status in the most recent inspection. The mileage accumulation is exceptionally high for a 2017 vehicle, averaging approximately 28,625 miles per year. The data shows heavy, consistent usage, particularly evident in the jump from 77,791 miles in December 2020 to 137,339 miles by April 2022. This rapid increase in distance correlates with the emergence of more frequent advisories. The vehicle has clearly been used for intensive work or long-distance transit, which places significant stress on the drivetrain and chassis components. A prospective buyer should conduct a thorough physical inspection of the steering and suspension assembly. The May 2025 test flagged a leaking steering rack and a wet nearside front steering rack gaiter, which may indicate a developing leak despite the recent pass. Recurring advisories regarding worn bushes on both nearside and offside rear shock absorbers between 2024 and 2025 suggest these components are nearing the end of their service life. Structural integrity warrants close attention due to the corrosion reported around the top of the windscreen in May 2025 and the corroded nearside front coil spring noted during the same period. Although the 2026 test reported no defects, the history of corrosion in a high-mileage utility vehicle suggests that underbody inspection for rust and checking the condition of all suspension bushes and steering seals is essential.
