2000 Mercedes-Benz S 430 4.3L Petrol · X168 YAP

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, maintaining a clean MOT record for the last three years. Since the most recent test in June 2022 at 114,598 miles, the car passed with no defects recorded. This indicates a period of consistent maintenance following an initial failure in May 2019, as the vehicle has since navigated the testing process without further mechanical failures or structural advisories in the subsequent annual inspections. The mileage profile is notably low for a twenty-six year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,400 miles per year. Between May 2019 and June 2022, the car covered only 8,397 miles, suggesting very infrequent use or long storage periods. While low mileage typically reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine components, such low usage often leads to the degradation of rubber-based parts and fluid-related issues. The consistency of the testing dates shows the owner prioritised compliance, though the low mileage implies the vehicle has not been a daily driver. A buyer must prioritise a physical inspection of the structural integrity, particularly the rear arches and sills, as Mercedes of this era are prone to hidden corrosion that MOT tests may not fully detect. Given the low usage, the inspector should specifically check for perished suspension bushes and cracked tyres that may age despite having sufficient tread. The braking system should also be examined for seized calipers or corroded discs, as vehicles sitting for long periods frequently suffer from internal pitting and binding pistons despite low recorded mileage figures.
