2023 BMW S 1000 1.0L Petrol · X1 KAM

This BMW S 1000 XR TE demonstrates a consistently stable roadworthiness record, with every MOT test since 2022 passing without defects or advisories. The most recent inspection on 27 May 2025—just over a year ago—confirmed compliance across all tested systems, including brakes, suspension, exhaust emissions, and structural integrity. There is no evidence of recurring mechanical issues or progressive failures in the official record, though the absence of advisories does not preclude hidden wear or deferred maintenance. The vehicle’s low mileage of 10,595 miles over three years—approximately 3,532 miles annually—suggests either minimal use or extended periods of storage. The most significant gap between tests occurs between the 2023 and 2024 MOTs, spanning 12 months with no recorded mileage accumulation, which could imply the bike was stationary during that period. The remaining intervals (around 11 months between tests) align with typical MOT frequency, but the overall low mileage raises questions about whether consumable components like tyres, brake pads, or chain/drivetrain have been replaced proactively rather than worn out naturally. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of suspension components—particularly the rear swingarm bushes and front fork seals—due to the bike’s age and low mileage, which may mask fluid leaks or premature degradation. The brakes, while never failed, should be checked for uneven pad wear or binding calipers, especially if the bike has been stored for extended periods, as moisture can accelerate corrosion. Additionally, the chain and sprocket condition warrants scrutiny; low mileage does not guarantee longevity, and a stretched or rusted chain can lead to sudden failure. Finally, inspect the frame and fuel tank for corrosion, as standing water or salt exposure—even in brief periods—can compromise structural integrity over time.
