2016 BMW 3 Series 2.0L Diesel · XM06 ADA

The most recent MOT test conducted on 30 December 2025 resulted in a pass with no defects or advisories recorded. Reviewing the full history from 2022 through to late 2025, the vehicle demonstrates a highly stable and consistent maintenance trend, having passed every inspection without any noted failures. This clean record suggests that the vehicle has been maintained to a standard that meets all essential safety and environmental requirements, though the absence of advisories means you must still perform a thorough physical inspection to identify minor wear that may not have been flagged during the testing process. With a recorded mileage of 66,425 miles over approximately ten years, the vehicle has averaged roughly 6,642 miles per year. This represents relatively low annual usage for a BMW 3 Series, which generally implies less mechanical strain on the engine, gearbox, and drivetrain components compared to a high-mileage vehicle. However, this usage profile carries the risk of age-related degradation due to the vehicle potentially spending longer periods stationary. While the lower mileage is a positive factor for long-term component life, it necessitates a focus on items that deteriorate through time and inactivity rather than just through distance covered. During your inspection and test drive, you should pay particular attention to age-related consumables. Closely examine the tyres for any signs of perishing, such as sidewall cracking or fine cracks in the tread grooves, which can occur even if the tread depth remains high. Check the brake discs for heavy corrosion or pitting and listen for any signs of binding calipers or uneven braking. Given the low mileage, it is essential to verify that the service history includes time-based fluid changes, specifically for the brake fluid and engine oil, to prevent the degradation of seals and internal components. Additionally, listen for any suspension clunks or knocks over bumps, which could indicate that rubber bushes or dampers are perishing. You should also check the 12V battery health to ensure it remains capable of supporting the vehicle's electronic systems, as batteries can lose capacity when not regularly cycled. Finally, verify the service book stamps to ensure that maintenance has been carried out on a calendar basis rather than just based on mileage, as this is crucial for preventing the hardening of gaskets and the accumulation of moisture in vital fluids.
