2021 Toyota RAV4 Black Edition HEV 4X2 CVT 2.5L Hybrid electric (clean) · Y27 AAG

A clean and unblemished MOT record is the defining mechanical takeaway for this 2021 Toyota RAV4 Black Edition HEV, presenting a straightforward roadworthiness picture for any prospective buyer. The most recent test on 2025-04-04 was passed with no advisories or defects recorded, following an equally clean pass on 2024-04-23. Two consecutive tests with zero observations indicates that the vehicle has not exhibited any component wear, corrosion, fluid leaks, or structural issues flagged under the stringent DVSA inspection criteria. While this is a relatively short MOT history to draw firm long-term conclusions from, the absence of any advisory notes over a twelve-month period suggests the major safety-critical systems including brakes, tyres, suspension, lighting, and exhaust were in sound condition at the time of testing. The trend is one of stable and consistent roadworthiness with no warning signs of developing faults. The recorded mileage of 32,048 miles against a five-year vehicle age equates to an annual accumulation of roughly 6,410 miles, which sits firmly within typical usage parameters for a family SUV of this type. There are no significant gaps in the testing record that would suggest the vehicle was off the road for extended periods, nor are there any sudden mileage jumps between tests that might indicate clocking or inconsistent use. This steady, moderate-rate usage is mechanically favourable as it implies that the hybrid powertrain, braking system, suspension components, and tyres have all been worked regularly without being subjected to excessive high-mileage wear. The hybrid system in particular benefits from consistent use, as prolonged standing can affect battery conditioning and 12V auxiliary battery health, neither of which appears to have been an issue here. The drivetrain, CVT transmission, and regenerative braking components should all be in good working order given this usage profile. For a prospective buyer, the lack of any specific advisories means there are no flagged components demanding immediate scrutiny, but a thorough physical inspection and test drive remain essential given the vehicle is now approaching six years of age. On a test drive, pay close attention to the hybrid system transition between electric and petrol modes, ensuring it engages smoothly without harsh judder or excessive engine revving under light throttle. Listen for any knocks or clonks from the front suspension over speed humps and uneven road surfaces, paying particular attention to the compliance of the strut top mounts and lower control arm bushes, which are common wear points on SUVs of this age. Check the steering for any vagueness, pulling to one side, or clonking noises on full lock, which could indicate wear in the electric power steering rack or track rod ends. Inspect the brake pedal feel for any sponginess or excessive travel, and verify that the regenerative braking system is functioning correctly by observing the energy recovery display on the dashboard. Visually, the vehicle warrants a careful inspection of the bodywork and underside for any corrosion, particularly around the rear wheel arches, sills, and undercarriage, as road salt exposure in the UK can initiate rust even on well-maintained vehicles. Check the CVT transmission fluid condition via the dipstick if accessible, as contaminated or burnt fluid can indicate neglect. Examine the tyres for even wear across the tread, as uneven patterns can point to alignment issues, suspension wear, or extended kerbing damage. Verify all hybrid system warning lights extinguish promptly on startup and that the vehicle switches seamlessly between EV and hybrid modes. Finally, confirm the full service history is present and up to date, with particular attention to any hybrid system health checks or battery diagnostic reports, as these provide crucial insight into the long-term viability of the powertrain and complement the otherwise exemplary MOT record.
