2012 Volkswagen CC GT Bluemotion Technolgy TDI 2.0L Heavy oil · YA12 OHR

The Volkswagen CC’s most recent MOT test on 23 April 2023 at 90,562 miles resulted in a clean pass with no defects recorded, following a near-consecutive failure on 20 April 2023 at 90,159 miles—an unusual but technically non-recurring issue since both tests were free of faults. The absence of advisories or repeated failures suggests the vehicle has not experienced persistent mechanical or structural concerns, though the abrupt failure before passing raises suspicion of a temporary oversight rather than a systemic problem. The test dates are now over three years old, placing the current mileage at 90,562—well beyond the 12-month threshold for MOT validity, meaning the vehicle is now untested for roadworthiness. This lapse alone warrants immediate verification of critical components, as wear patterns could have developed undetected. The recorded mileage of 90,562 over 14 years equates to approximately 6,469 miles annually, a rate consistent with typical usage for this age. There are no gaps in the MOT history to indicate prolonged inactivity or neglect, nor is there evidence of rapid mileage accumulation that might suggest aggressive driving or deferred maintenance. However, the lack of intermediate service records or MOTs beyond the two 2023 tests means critical intervals—such as suspension servicing, brake pad replacements, or corrosion checks—could have been missed. The TDI engine’s emissions compliance was last verified in April 2023, and without recent servicing, the risk of DPF or EGR system issues has increased. A buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the suspension components, particularly the rear axle and coil springs, given the vehicle’s age and mileage. The abrupt MOT failure before passing hints at potential brake or steering system inconsistencies, so binding calipers, worn suspension bushes, or uneven tyre wear should be checked. Corrosion is a critical concern for a 2012 model, especially around wheel arches, sills, and underbody, as unchecked rust can compromise structural integrity. The exhaust system and emissions controls—particularly the DPF—should also be scrutinised, as TDI engines are prone to carbon buildup and failure if driven sporadically. Tyre tread depth and condition warrant immediate confirmation, as the absence of advisories in 2023 does not guarantee they have not degraded since.
