2023 Renault Clio Evolution TCE 1.0L Petrol · YA72 LYG

The Renault Clio Evolution TCe presents a clean MOT history at the most recent test in February 2026, with no defects recorded at 21,987 miles. This indicates a stable maintenance trend, as the vehicle passed without advisories or failures—an uncommonly positive outcome for a three-year-old car with typical mileage. The absence of recurring issues suggests either diligent upkeep by previous owners or a model known for reliability in these key areas. However, the duplicate test entries on the same date raise a procedural anomaly worth clarifying with the seller, as this could imply administrative error or an initial rejection later corrected. At 21,987 miles over three years, the Clio’s mileage accumulation aligns closely with average usage for its age, averaging roughly 7,329 miles annually. This pattern neither signals excessive wear nor prolonged neglect, though it does imply the vehicle has seen regular but not aggressive use. Without earlier MOT records, it’s impossible to track long-term trends, but the current data suggests no sudden spikes in mileage that would warrant heightened scrutiny of high-wear components like brakes or suspension. The lack of historical advisories or failures further supports the idea that basic maintenance has been maintained, though a buyer should still verify service records for oil changes, tyre rotations, and fluid top-ups. Given the absence of defects in the latest test, the primary focus for a prospective buyer should lie in inspecting consumable and wear-prone components that aren’t covered by the MOT but still critical to longevity. Check the condition of the tyres for uneven wear or cracks, as these can indicate alignment or suspension issues not yet visible. Examine the brake system closely—listen for unusual noises under hard braking and inspect for glazing on discs or excessive play in the pedal, which could precede binding calipers or worn pads. The suspension should be tested for clunks or stiffness, particularly over speed bumps, as worn bushes or coil springs often develop gradually. Finally, assess the battery health, given the vehicle’s age, and verify that all electrical systems—lights, sensors, and infotainment—operate without faults, as these are common areas for deferred maintenance in used EVs. While the MOT history is reassuring, the buyer should treat this as a snapshot rather than an exhaustive assessment. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is strongly advised, particularly to verify the structural integrity of the chassis for corrosion or damage, as well as the health of the electric drivetrain components, which may not yet show signs of wear in a short test window. The clean MOT record is a positive sign, but due diligence remains essential for a vehicle of this age and value.
