2018 Ford Tourneo Custom 2.0L Diesel · YB18 AWJ

The vehicle is currently roadworthy but the most recent inspection indicates a shift toward reactive maintenance after several years of clean passes. The test conducted on 16 June 2026 at 225,032 miles flagged multiple mechanical issues that were absent in the previous three annual tests. The appearance of a severely deteriorated nearside drive shaft CV boot, worn brake discs, and thin front pads suggests that the high-mileage cycle is now catching up with components subject to significant wear and tear. The mileage profile is exceptionally high for an eight-year-old vehicle, averaging over 28,000 miles per year. Between the May 2022 test at 102,108 miles and the June 2026 test at 225,032 miles, the vehicle covered 123,924 miles in just four years. This consistent, heavy usage suggests constant motorway operation which typically preserves the engine but rapidly accelerates the degradation of suspension and braking hardware. The gap of 35,000 miles between the 2024 and 2025 tests confirms this high-intensity usage. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the front suspension and braking assemblies. The tester noted a noisy offside front wheel bearing in 2026, which often precedes a total bearing failure if not addressed. Given the pitted and scored brake discs alongside thin pads, the entire front braking system should be evaluated for replacement rather than a simple resurfacing. The deteriorated CV boot requires immediate attention to prevent grease loss and internal damage to the drive shaft joint, which would result in a significantly more expensive repair.
