2008 Ford Fusion 1.6L Petrol · YG58 KRE

The vehicle remains roadworthy but the maintenance history shows a worsening trend regarding suspension components and braking system corrosion. While the car passed the January 2026 test at 82,837 miles, the tester identified multiple severely deteriorated ball joint dust covers on the nearside and offside front suspension arms and anti-roll bar. This represents a progression from the minor brake pipe corrosion noted in previous years, suggesting that rubber components are reaching the end of their life due to age rather than mileage. At 18 years old, the recorded 82,837 miles indicate significantly low usage, averaging approximately 4,600 miles per year. There is a notable gap in records between December 2021 and January 2023, during which the car covered only 3,324 miles. The low annual mileage accumulation of roughly 3,000 to 4,000 miles recently explains the perishing of tyres noted in early 2023, which is often the result of vehicles sitting for long periods rather than heavy driving. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the brake lines and suspension assembly. The corrosion on the offside front brake pipe appeared in 2024, persisted through 2025, and remained covered in grease in 2026, which often masks deeper structural decay of the metal pipe. The deterioration of the ball joint dust covers in the most recent test indicates an immediate need to inspect these joints for play or failure. Additionally, check for dry rot on the tyre sidewalls, as the history confirms low usage which frequently leads to rubber degradation despite sufficient tread depth.
