2021 MINI Cooper S Electric Collection Electricity · YH21 FWD

The vehicle holds a current, valid MOT following the most recent test on 12 March 2025 at 10,868 miles. The maintenance trend appears broadly stable, though not entirely fault-free. That pass was not clean. The tester flagged the offside front tyre worn close to the legal limit and worn on both inner and outer edges, a classic sign of toe misalignment or sustained under-inflation rather than simple age-related wear. The 2024 test at 9,153 miles recorded only a minor inspection limitation due to a fitted child seat, with no mechanical or structural defects. Taken together, the record suggests a car that has been kept on the road but not necessarily maintained to a meticulous standard. The mileage pattern is notably low for a 2021-registered electric vehicle. Between the March 2024 test at 9,153 miles and the March 2025 test at 10,868 miles, the car covered just 1,715 miles in twelve months. Over its full life to date, that equates to roughly 2,174 miles per year. Such low annual accumulation raises the possibility of long stationary periods, which can affect tyre flat-spotting, brake surface corrosion, and battery health in electric vehicles. The sparse MOT history, with only two recorded tests, limits the ability to identify longer-term wear trends or earlier fault patterns. A buyer should inspect the front suspension geometry carefully. The uneven tyre wear noted in March 2025, affecting both inner and outer edges of the offside front, points to toe misalignment or worn suspension bushes and track rod ends. Have the tracking and front-end components checked on a four-post lift. Examine the tyre date codes as well; even with low mileage, a 2021 vehicle may still be running on its original rubber, which could be approaching five years old and due for replacement regardless of remaining tread. The electric powertrain and high-voltage battery should be interrogated using manufacturer-specific diagnostics to confirm state of charge capability and any stored fault codes, as the MOT record provides no insight into these systems. Brake condition warrants attention too. Electric vehicles rely heavily on regenerative braking, which can lead to infrequent use of the friction brakes and subsequent surface corrosion on discs and pads, particularly after periods of standing. Inspect the braking system for uneven disc wear, binding calipers, and pad thickness. The MOT record is thin, so a comprehensive pre-purchase inspection covering suspension, steering, brakes, tyres, and the high-voltage system remains essential before committing to the purchase.
