2013 Ducati Multistrada 1.2L Petrol · YJ13 TMP

The Ducati Multistrada has maintained a clean MOT history with no defects recorded across the most recent three tests, all passing on the due dates. The latest inspection on 11 July 2025—just under a year ago—confirms the vehicle remains roadworthy under current DVSA standards, with no advisories or failings to suggest imminent mechanical failure. This consistency indicates the bike has likely been kept in stable condition, though the absence of defects does not preclude hidden wear on high-stress components like the suspension, drivetrain, or electrical systems. The recorded mileage of 19,779 miles over a 13-year span—approximately 1,521 miles per year—is unusually low for a motorcycle of this age. The gaps between tests reveal a pattern of minimal usage: the 2022 test at 17,529 miles suggests only around 2,000 miles were accumulated in the intervening year, while the 2023 test at 19,076 miles implies another 557 miles in roughly 12 months. Such low mileage could indicate the bike was stored for extended periods, which may have contributed to potential issues like seized components, degraded fluids, or corrosion in less frequently used parts. Conversely, it also suggests the owner may have prioritised short-term riding over long-term wear, though this does not necessarily correlate with overall mechanical health. Given the lack of MOT defects, the primary focus for an in-person inspection should centre on components prone to neglect in low-mileage scenarios. The suspension—particularly the rear shock absorbers and front forks—should be checked for leaks, excessive play, or degraded bushes, as prolonged storage can accelerate rubber degradation. The drivetrain, including the chain, sprockets, and derailleur, warrants scrutiny for rust or stiffness, while the brakes—despite no MOT failings—should be inspected for uneven wear, binding calipers, or corrosion on the brake discs and pads. Electrical systems, such as the battery, wiring harness, and lighting, may also require testing, as they can degrade passively over time without regular use. Finally, a thorough examination of the frame, fuel system, and exhaust should rule out corrosion or structural weaknesses, especially if the bike was stored in damp conditions.
