2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2.1L Diesel · YJ18 NJV

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has maintained a clean MOT history over the most recent two tests, both passing without defects in March 2023 and March 2022. This suggests a stable roadworthiness trend, though the absence of advisories or minor faults means no recurring issues have been formally recorded. The most recent test, just over three years ago at 279,276 miles, aligns with the typical MOT cycle, though the lack of intermediate checks raises questions about whether the vehicle has undergone any private servicing or diagnostics outside the statutory requirements. The recorded mileage of 279,276 miles over eight years—approximately 34,910 miles annually—indicates heavy usage for a vehicle of this age. The gap between tests, spanning roughly 12 months each time, is standard, but the cumulative mileage suggests accelerated wear on high-stress components such as suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers. There are no visible gaps in the MOT record, but the consistent high mileage implies that the vehicle has likely been operated under demanding conditions, potentially in commercial or mixed-use scenarios. Given the lack of recorded faults, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of suspension components, particularly the rear axle where binding or worn bushes could develop without prior MOT detection. The brakes, though not flagged, warrant close examination for uneven wear, corrosion on caliper slides, or glazed discs—common in high-mileage vehicles. Structural integrity should also be assessed, especially around wheel arches, sills, and the underbody, where corrosion could compromise safety without leaving obvious surface rust. The absence of advisories does not preclude hidden issues, so a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified Mercedes specialist is strongly advised to verify the condition of the drivetrain and auxiliary systems.
