2011 Ford Transit 2.4L Diesel · YK11 LNH

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, evidenced by a clean pass during its most recent inspection. The test conducted on 7 February 2024 at 302,211 miles resulted in no recorded defects, indicating that the vehicle was maintained to a functional standard despite its high mileage. This follows a consistent history of passes since 2017, suggesting that the previous owners addressed necessary mechanical requirements without the recurring failures typically associated with heavy-duty vans. The mileage profile reflects heavy commercial use consistent with a fifteen-year-old Transit, averaging approximately 20,000 miles per annum. Between July 2021 and February 2024, the vehicle covered 40,649 miles, which represents a steady rate of operation around 13,500 miles per year. The gap between the 2017 and 2021 tests shows a significant accumulation of 71,347 miles, confirming the vehicle remained in active service throughout that period. The lack of long periods suggests the engine has likely not suffered from seal-related issues or fuel-system neglect. A buyer must focus their physical inspection on high-wear components that are likely nearing the end of their service life given the 300,000-mile mark. While the MOT record is clean, the suspension geometry, specifically coil springs and lower control arm bushes, often undergoes significant stress under these load conditions. Close attention should be paid to the chassis for structural corrosion, particularly around the rear members and arches, as these are common points of failure on this generation of Transit. The braking system also requires a thorough check for binding calipers or thin discs, as the 2024 test did not flag any advisories that might have warned of future issues. At this mileage, mechanical wear on the turbocharger, injectors, and clutch assembly remains a risk that a standard MOT cannot capture. The buyer should verify the absence of fluid leaks and check for excessive blue smoke to ensure the drivetrain is not nearing a terminal internal failure.
