Chronic wear of the front suspension linkages and deteriorating rubber components define the mechanical history of this vehicle. While it passed its last inspection on 2024-12-02, the record shows a persistent pattern of degradation regarding the front lower suspension arm bushes and ball joint dust covers dating back to 2019. This suggests a gradual decline in the condition of the front-end geometry components rather than a series of isolated failures. The recorded mileage of 164,073 miles is consistent with the vehicle's age, averaging approximately 8,204 miles per year. This steady usage pattern indicates that the drivetrain and chassis have been subjected to typical long-term wear. At this mileage, components such as engine mounts, transmission mounts, and various rubber seals are more likely to exhibit fatigue, which aligns with the recent recording of an oil leak. Prospective buyers should pay close attention to the front suspension, specifically the lower arms and bushes which have been flagged repeatedly. During a test drive, listen for knocking or clunking sounds when driving over speed bumps or during low-speed cornering, as these are typical symptoms of worn suspension pins and bushes. The deterioration of the ball joint dust covers noted in previous years suggests that the joints themselves may have been exposed to contaminants, potentially leading to premature wear. The brake system requires a physical inspection of the front brake hoses, which were flagged as deteriorating across multiple tests between 2021 and 2022. Check for visible cracking or perishing in the rubber lines. Additionally, the oil leak noted in the December 2024 test should be investigated to identify the source and check for active dripping. Finally, the damage to the nearside mirror recorded in the most recent tests should be assessed for structural stability.
