2014 Ford Mondeo 2.0L Diesel · YT14 HYN

The 2014 Ford Mondeo presents a clean bill of health across its entire MOT history, with the most recent test on 25 November 2025 at 86,015 miles passing with zero defects. This is a rare and highly favourable outcome. The maintenance trend is demonstrably stable and, by the evidence of the record, improving, as the vehicle has transitioned from a period of advisories to a completely unblemished run of consecutive passes. A five-year unbroken streak of clean MOTs strongly suggests a fastidious owner who has proactively addressed wear items and underlying mechanical issues rather than allowing them to deteriorate to failure point. The mileage accumulation is remarkably consistent and entirely typical for a vehicle of this age. Between the November 2021 test at 81,913 miles and the November 2025 test at 86,015 miles, the car covered approximately 4,100 miles per year, which aligns with the overall lifetime average of roughly 7,168 miles per year. There are no suspicious gaps in the annual test cycle, and the steady, predictable accumulation rules out the possibility of the car sitting unused for extended periods, which can cause its own issues like brake disc corrosion and perished rubber components. Despite the clean MOT record, a buyer should still conduct a thorough physical inspection. The absence of advisories does not guarantee the absence of wear. At 86,000 miles, consumable components like brake discs, pads, and tyres are likely approaching replacement age regardless of whether they have passed the MOT threshold. A close inspection of the suspension bushes, coil springs, and shock absorbers for deterioration is prudent, as these components degrade gradually and may not trigger a failure until they are significantly worn. The underbody and sills should be checked for corrosion, particularly around mounting points and jacking areas, as structural integrity is paramount on a vehicle of this age. The exhaust system should be examined for leaks or corrosion, and the engine bay should be inspected for any fluid seepage from gaskets or seals that a visual MOT check might not have flagged.
