1998 Subaru Forester 2.0L Petrol · R480 AOE

The most recent MOT, conducted on 2 February 2026 at 101,363 miles, resulted in a clean pass with no defects recorded. Across the full five-test history spanning February 2022 to February 2026, the vehicle has passed every inspection without a single advisory or failure. This indicates a mechanically stable and well-maintained vehicle, with no evidence of worsening condition or recurring faults over the past four years. The mileage pattern supports the impression of light, consistent use. The Forester covered just 1,780 miles between February 2025 and February 2026, and the annual accumulation has remained steady at roughly 2,000 miles per year throughout the recorded period. At 28 years old with 101,363 recorded miles, the car averages about 3,620 miles annually, which is low for its age. There are no significant gaps in the history that would suggest long periods of standing, and no sudden jumps in mileage that would indicate heavy or demanding use. Because the DVSA record is entirely clean, any pre-purchase inspection should focus on age-related deterioration that an MOT pass may not fully reveal. Look closely for structural corrosion on the sills, floor pans, and rear subframe, as this generation of Subaru is prone to rust. Also check the condition of suspension bushes and coil springs for cracking or perishing, and listen for any knocking from the drivetrain. The clean history suggests the previous owner attended to routine upkeep, but a 28-year-old vehicle deserves a thorough physical check of brakes, tyres, and underbody sealing before purchase.
