2023 Audi A1 1.5L Petrol · Y121 ABS

The vehicle achieved a PASS on its most recent DVSA MOT test conducted on 18 June 2026, with no defects or advisories recorded against it. A clean pass on a three-year-old Audi A1 with relatively modest mileage is a reassuring indicator, suggesting that the car has been maintained to a satisfactory standard and that no components were identified as approaching the minimum legal thresholds at the time of examination. However, it is worth noting that the MOT test is essentially a safety and emissions screen rather than a comprehensive mechanical inspection; it does not assess the condition of many wear-and-tear items that are not yet at failure point, nor does it cover service items such as timing belts, cambelts, or internal engine condition. The single recorded test therefore represents a baseline rather than a long-term trend, but the absence of any advisories on this occasion is a positive signal that no components were borderline at the time. With recorded mileage of 19,975 miles over an approximate three-year span, the vehicle is averaging around 6,660 miles annually, which sits broadly within the typical usage band for a small premium hatchback of this type. This neither constitutes excessive motorway mileage nor particularly low usage that would give rise to significant standing-related concerns. At this rate of accumulation, the major mechanical assemblies including the engine, transmission, and clutch (where applicable) should be relatively early in their service life, and the braking system will have seen only modest wear given the modest annual mileage. Consumable items such as tyres, brake pads, and brake discs are likely to still have substantial remaining life, though a physical inspection of pad and disc thickness would be prudent regardless of the clean MOT record. Despite the unblemished MOT history, prospective buyers should still conduct a thorough physical inspection, as a three-year-old vehicle will inevitably have undergone some degree of calendar-related degradation regardless of mileage. The tyres warrant close attention for signs of sidewall perishing or cracking, which can occur even on lightly used vehicles due to UV exposure and ozone ageing; check the DOT date codes on the sidewalls to confirm the tyres are not older than three to four years. The 12-volt battery should be tested for state of health, as premature battery failure is common on vehicles of this age regardless of usage pattern, particularly if the car has been subject to short journeys. Similarly, examine the brake discs for any surface corrosion or pitting, which can lead to juddering under braking if the vehicle has been left standing for extended periods, and verify that the calipers are not seizing by checking for even pad wear. Additional checks appropriate to the calendar age and modest mileage include a thorough inspection of all fluid conditions and service history. Engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and the automatic transmission fluid (where applicable) all degrade over time irrespective of mileage, so confirming the date of the last fluid service is essential; brake fluid in particular should be renewed every two years due to its hygroscopic nature, and the age of the vehicle suggests this service is likely due or overdue. Inspect the underside and wheelarches for any signs of corrosion, particularly around suspension mounting points, subframes, and brake lines, though on a 2023 model this is unlikely to be a significant concern. Finally, verify the documented service history to confirm that the cambelt or timing chain interval has been addressed according to manufacturer specification, and ensure that any infotainment, lighting, and electronic systems function correctly, as these are common sources of warranty claims on premium vehicles of this age.
