2001 Mercedes-Benz C 2.6L Petrol · Y952 EAU

The 2001 Mercedes-Benz C presents a stable roadworthiness trend with no recorded defects across its available MOT history. The most recent test on 10 July 2023 at 38,499 miles returned a clean pass, and no advisories appeared on any prior certificate. The vehicle shows no worsening mechanical faults and no recurring test failures throughout the documented period. Recorded mileage sits at 38,499 miles against a 25-year lifespan, equating to roughly 1,540 miles per year. The test on 12 July 2022 captured 33,914 miles, then the 10 July 2023 test showed 38,499, a modest 4,585-mile gain over twelve months. A four-year gap exists between the 2018 test at 33,535 miles and the 2022 test at 33,914 miles, indicating the car covered only 379 miles in that span. Prior to 2018, annual use ran near 1,800 to 2,200 miles. The low and irregular accumulation suggests extended standing periods rather than consistent daily use. A buyer should still commission an in-person inspection of suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers given the age and intermittent lay-up. Standing vehicles commonly develop perished rubber components and seized handbrake mechanisms even when MOT tests record no faults. Drivetrain seals and exhaust corrosion warrant close examination beneath the chassis. The clean MOT record implies previous keepers addressed basic upkeep before each test, yet the sparse history leaves structural integrity and hidden rust unverified. Confirm the underside, sills, and subframe for corrosion before purchase, as the DVSA data offers no visibility on these areas.
