2018 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · AC60 CAL

The most recent MOT, carried out on 12 June 2026, was passed with no recorded defects, and the preceding five years of MOTs also returned clean passes. This uninterrupted record suggests a consistent maintenance regime and no emerging safety‑critical faults, indicating a stable overall roadworthiness trend rather than a deteriorating one. At 109,790 miles on a 2018 Discovery the vehicle averages roughly 13,700 miles per annum, which is above the typical UK average for a family SUV. The relatively high annual mileage points to sustained use of the power‑train, suspension and braking components, and may have accelerated wear on items such as coil springs, shock absorbers, bushings and the front and rear brake discs. There are no obvious gaps in the recorded mileage that would imply long periods of inactivity, so the wear pattern is likely to be progressive rather than intermittent. Given the clean MOT history but the vehicle’s age and mileage, a prospective buyer should give particular attention to the condition of the tyres, inspecting tread depth, sidewall cracking and any signs of perishing that can occur with age even on low‑wear tyres. The 12‑volt battery should be tested for cranking amperage and checked for any signs of sulfation, especially if the vehicle has spent time standing. Brake discs and pads ought to be examined for thickness, surface rust and any uneven wear that could indicate sticking calipers; a test‑drive should reveal any pulsation, shudder or excessive pedal travel. Fluid levels and condition—engine oil, coolant, brake fluid and transmission oil—should be verified against service records, with particular focus on the two‑year interval for brake fluid replacement and the five‑year interval for coolant flushes. Finally, a thorough visual inspection under the vehicle is advisable to spot any corrosion on the chassis, exhaust hangers or suspension mounting points, which can be exacerbated by frequent off‑road use. Listen for clunking or squeaking from the front and rear suspension during cornering and over bumps, which may reveal worn bushings or ball joints. Verify that the service book contains regular oil changes, filter replacements and any manufacturer‑specified timing‑belt or chain service; a well‑documented service history will corroborate the clean MOT results and give confidence that the high mileage has been managed with appropriate preventative maintenance.
