2012 Honda Jazz 1.3L Petrol · AF12 JNV

A history of tyre perishing and structural failure defines the mid-term record of this vehicle, though it has since maintained a clean roadworthiness profile. A dangerous failure in May 2022 necessitated the immediate replacement of both rear tyres due to structural tears, following a 2021 test where all four tyres were flagged for cracking. Since that corrective action, the vehicle has passed five consecutive tests without any recorded defects, including the most recent inspection on 7 May 2026. The recorded mileage of 43,275 miles is low for a fourteen year old vehicle, averaging approximately 3,091 miles per year. This usage pattern suggests the vehicle has spent significant periods stationary or has been used for very short journeys. Mechanically, such low accumulation often shifts the primary wear factors from frictional drivetrain wear to the degradation of rubber components and seals, which is consistent with the previously recorded tyre perishing. Given the previous dangerous failure related to tyre structural integrity and perishing, a physical inspection of the current tyre sidewalls for hairline cracks or bulging is essential. While the recent tests are clean, the history of rubber degradation suggests a need to verify the age and condition of all four tyres. During a test drive, pay close attention to any unusual vibrations through the steering wheel or a tendency for the vehicle to pull to one side, which could indicate uneven wear or structural issues in the tyre carcasses. Beyond the tyres, the low mileage and age of the vehicle warrant a check of the suspension bushes and steering linkages for signs of drying or cracking, as these rubber components age similarly to the tyres previously flagged. Listen for knocks or clunks when driving over speed bumps or uneven road surfaces, and check for any stiffness or hesitation in the steering rack. Ensure the brake pedal feel is firm and consistent, as low-usage vehicles can occasionally exhibit binding calipers or surface corrosion on the discs.
