2008 Ford Mondeo 1.6L Petrol · AK08 ABN

The vehicle's recent MOT history indicates a stable maintenance trend, though the most recent test on 5 June 2025 at 100,871 miles resulted in a failure. While the record does not specify the exact reason for this failure, the sudden shift from consecutive passes to a failed result suggests a recent mechanical or structural issue that requires immediate investigation. Prior to this, the vehicle maintained a clean record with no recorded defects or advisories across several years of testing. The mileage accumulation is notably low for an 18-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 5,604 miles per year. The data shows a consistent, gradual increase in distance covered, moving from 68,479 miles in July 2021 to 100,871 miles in June 2025. This steady progression suggests regular, light usage rather than long periods of stationary storage, which typically results in more erratic mileage jumps. This consistent usage pattern is generally positive for engine health and prevents the seals and gaskets from drying out prematurely. Because the 2025 failure occurred without recorded advisories in the summary, a physical inspection is essential to identify the specific cause of the non-compliance. You should focus on the underside of the vehicle to check for new structural corrosion or exhaust emissions issues that may have triggered the failure. Given the age of the Ford Mondeo, pay close attention to the condition of the suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake discs for signs of heavy wear or binding. The lack of historical advisories regarding tyres or wiper blades suggests the previous owner maintained basic consumables, but the recent failure breaks this pattern. Verify that the cause of the 2025 failure has been rectified with official documentation. Focus your inspection on the braking system and steering components to ensure no underlying issues with the calipers or suspension geometry have developed during the recent period of use.
