2007 Volkswagen Golf 1.9L Diesel · AP57 GDU

A consistent track record of roadworthiness defines this vehicle, which has avoided the chronic advisories and recurring failures typical of its age. This stability is confirmed by the clean pass on 26 February 2026, indicating that the car has remained mechanically compliant throughout its recent testing cycle without any recorded defects. The recorded mileage of 217,654 miles over nineteen years reflects a steady usage pattern of roughly 11,455 miles per year. While this is typical for the vehicle's age, such high cumulative mileage places significant demand on the drivetrain, engine internals, and chassis consumables. The lack of testing gaps suggests the vehicle has been in continuous use, avoiding the specific degradation issues associated with long-term standing. Despite the clean MOT history, the high mileage necessitates a rigorous physical inspection of the suspension and braking systems. During a test drive, listen for knocks or creaks from the suspension bushes and linkages when driving over speed bumps, and feel for any pedal judder or steering pull that could indicate worn brake discs or binding calipers. Further evaluation should focus on the drivetrain health, specifically checking for clutch slip under acceleration and the smoothness of gear changes. Inspect the engine bay for oil misting or leaks that may not have reached the threshold of an MOT failure but are common at this mileage. Ensure the steering is tight and free from excessive play to confirm the integrity of the steering rack and joints.
